Holly – Edmonton Boudoir Styling/Makeup & Hair

*Update
Chris sent me a before pic of Holly yay!

I always have good conversations with my clients.  I love getting to know them and hearing about their lives, experiences, travels, etc.  Even if it’s only within that hour to hour and a half that we have together.  Most of the time we get along so well that I take longer than usual to do my job.  Oops!  We can’t help it!  Lots of laughter to go around.  I love positive, open people who have that happy aura around them.  Good people with good vibes =)  When my personality and theirs just mesh so well that our conversations about anything n everything is so always too much fun!

Holly today was one of them.  I had a blast doing her hair and makeup.  We totally forgot to take a ‘before’ pic but that’s ok, she’s a stunner this Holly girl!  🙂

Finally My Turn! – Edmonton Boudoir Photo Shoot

image

It’s midnight and I’m sitting here packing for tomorrow’s boudoir shoot…I’m so excited!!  Colorful bras, a zillion panties, garter belts, thigh high stockings and a pair of sexy Louboutins.  #allagirlneeds

This isn’t even half the stuff!  I really don’t know what to bring so I’m gonna bring everything!  lol  I still have clothing items to pack, accessories, more shoes, jackets, etc.  Yikes.  hahah we’ll see tomorrow.

For the past 2 years I’ve done makeup and hair for so many clients for their boudoir/beauty shoots and now it’s finally my turn!  As a makeup artist I’m there for the getting ready part, and I see all the ‘behind the scenes’ stuff going on and it always looks so fun and I’ve always always wanted to do a boudoir shoot myself.  I also see most of the photos when they’re done and honestly each and every one of them are so beautiful, such a work of art.  I knew one day I’d do this but I’ve always put it off for some reason and now it’s finally time!!  I can’t wait!

I will update more next time with how I prepared for this shoot (makeup, etc) but now this girl needs all the beauty sleep she can get, good night!!

I love what I do and I’m good at what I do but it’s always nice to hear from my clients that they love their makeup and that they felt beautiful! Thank you Tracy! Your pictures turned out soooo gorgeous!

Tracy brought in her clip-in extensions (which alot of clients do)  and I have no problem putting them on for my clients and workin’ it like their own hair!  Va-va-va-voom!  Instant sexy hair!  🙂

Mature Beauty – Edmonton Makeup Artist

Makeup for mature women can be tricky.  There’s a fine line between too much makeup and too little makeup.  Too harsh or not enough.  With age comes wrinkles, undereye circles, thinner lips, droopy eyelids, etc.  But there are tricks to diminish the not so goods and enhance the goods.  As seen here on Marlene.  She looks fabulous and I want to look like her when I’m older!!  This is beauty at it’s finest; and age ain’t nothin’ but a number!  🙂

Asian Smokey Eye – Edmonton Wedding Makeup Artist

I woke up before the crack of dawn for my bride today.  Let me tell you, it wasn’t easy.  My whole ‘put-on-makeup-look-my-best-at-all-times-cuz-I’m-only-young-once’ motto went out the door!  Hahaha. I stumbled out of bed, barely brushed my teeth, (sorry Adeline! muahah) slapped on some eye cream n moisturizer and out the door I went.

Everytime I have to wake up early (before 10am) for work, I always ask myself ughhhh whyyyyyyy did I agree to this!??  But I love what I do and I wouldn’t wanna be doing anything else!  It’s kinda like going to the gym…you don’t really wanna wake up for it and you have to drag yourself there.  But once you’re there it’s all good and you’re glad you went and when you’re done its so rewarding and you love it!! Haha. That’s how I feel about waking up early for wedding gigs. 🙂

Adeline had a bridal trial with me a few weeks ago.  I have never met a bride who loves a good smokey eye more than myself!  Yay! My kinda girl!!  🙂  Don’t be afraid of a dramatic smokey eye for your wedding.  It’s super sexy and photographs awesome.

Here is the finished look for Adeline’s big day today:

A primer, 2 eyeshadows and a highlight shadow were used for this smokey eye.

I also had the pleasure of doing the mother of the bride’s makeup as well and she looked so so beautiful. But unfortunately I forgot to take a picture.
😦

It was so nice meeting you and your mom Adeline! Thank you for the yummy food and remember to send me pics!

Common Courtesy

If you’re going to be 30+ minutes late please have the decency to call and let us know you will be late.  Don’t wait for us to call you. We ended up cancelling the shoot but like I had nothing better to do than to stand around and wait for you. You wasted my time and gas.  It is rude and disrespectful. Thanks. #endrant

Kristen – Boudoir Shoot

As much as I love brunettes, there’s something about blondes with blue eyes that makes me want to be blonde with blue eyes sooo bad!  My hair’s been black most of my adult life but I think one day I’ll be dangerous and maybe just mayyyybe get some blonde highlights like back in the day lol  Sadly that’s probably the closest I’ll ever be to being blonde.  😦

Whenever I get a blonde w/ blue eyes client I get giddy inside.  I’m not exactly sure why.  lol  Blue eyes look amaaaaazing with a bronze-y smokey eye, lots of black mascara and black eyeliner.  Totally makes blue eyes pop.  Especially in photos.  I almost always use MAC’s ‘woodwinked’ eyeshadow for my blue eyed clients.  Never fails!

Kristen, how can you still look so beautiful with half a face!!!  🙂

Crazy lady on the loose

image

Today I had the longest, craziest work day.  Can u tell?? Lol. I look like a crazy lady and why am I cross-eyed in this pic?!?!?  Aye!  Hahhaaha

I worked for 7 hours straight, running on one banana in my system.  By the end of the day I was shaking from hunger and my bladder on the verge of blasting.  TMI sorry.  But I had nooo time at all to eat or pee!  I had to rush between clients to clean all my brushes and sanitize all the makeup, pack up and drive to the next client, unpack everything, set it all up, repeat X4.

But I loved every minute of it and I met some pretty darn awesome ladies today 🙂
