Nicola – Edmonton Wedding Makeup Artist

One of my brides was featured on the knot.com! Nicola envisioned a classic yet romantic makeup look.  She wanted a slightly bolder lip to go with a medium brown smokey eye.  Everything turned out perfect!

I also had the pleasure of doing the mother of the bride’s makeup and also, the maid of honor’s makeup too. (Nicola’s sister)

Wedding Day – Edmonton Wedding Makeup Artist

Another bright and early wedding day!  5am wakeup call! 😨😨  I was running on 2 hours of sleep; I couldn’t sleep the night before for some reason and it wasn’t even MY wedding!!! Lol 😂😂
As much as I would love to show up straight out of bed in my pjs without brushing my teeth or putting on makeup, I can’t do that to my brides! Or to the public!! 😮 So I still try to look as cute as my 5am self will let me.  Gotta look presentable for my girls!! 👍👌 😆

image

Today’s bride does not wear makeup at all so she wanted very natural looking makeup for her wedding.  We came up with a romantic and soft, super pretty bridal look!

image

For the maid of honor, I did a soft medium smokey eye using MAC’s ‘mythology’ eyeshadow with a light handed black eyeshadow to smoke out the outer corners.  How smokin’ is she!! 🔥🔥😍

#selfie with the maid of honor!  💕

Kim’s Wedding – Edmonton Wedding Makeup Artist

Kim’s big day started bright and early.  I loathe waking up so early for weddings but I love what I do so it’s worth it!

3 of the 6 ladies I worked on this past Saturday including the beautiful bride in her gorgeous traditional Vietnamese dress!  So so beautiful!

Kim decided she wanted to go lighter on the eyes on her wedding day compared to what we did at the bridal trial.  So I did a light smokey eye on her with no eyeliner on the lower waterline, just shadow.

That’s why I can’t stress enough how bridal trials are so important.  It’s like buying a new car without test driving it first 😉  You might be so set on a certain ‘look’ for your special day that you don’t realize that it might not work with your skintone, eye shape, face shape, eye color, etc etc.

At Kim’s bridal trial 2 weeks ago, she wanted to try a medium-dark smokey eye with a neutral lip.  She looked smokin’ don’t get me wrong (check out her bridal trial pics in my previous post) but after wearing it the whole day and taking her engagement pictures with the makeup on, she decided that the eye makeup was a little too dark than what she was used to and she wanted to go lighter on the eyes for her wedding day.  And nothing wrong with that!
Imagine if we didn’t do a bridal trial and I did the darker smokey eye on her actual wedding day.  She would have seen the pictures after the wedding was over and wished we went lighter on the eyes but guess what- too late!  That would suck right?!  If you’re not comfortable with how your makeup looks it’ll definately show and that’s no good!  So bride-to-be’s, definately book a bridal trial if you can!!

Kim’s wedding day makeup turned out so perfect, I wish we had better lighting to capture the makeup on my phone.  She looked SO SO pretty and I’m not just saying that cuz I did her makeup! lol  I’m hoping I can get some professional pictures from Kim when she gets them!

And of course, a #selfie with my gorgeous bride!  Thank you for letting me be part of your special day!  Even though I had to wake up at the crack of dawn and my eyes were all bloodshot and I was tired as hell and super cranky and took it out on my kids and slept the whole next day ❤

Tiffany the Dancer & My OOTD – Edmonton Makeup Artist

16yr old dancer Tiffany came today to http://www.chrisbernardphotography.com to do some headshots and dance pictures for her portfolio.  She walked in all naturally pretty so it was easy for me to do her makeup. Something so graceful about a dancer; you can just tell she’s a dancer just by looking at her.

Tiffany did her own hair (high bun) so I did my job with the makeup. We agreed on false lashes, lighter eyeshadow, no bottom eyeliner, contoured cheeks and a light pink lip color. My camera phone does not do her eyeshadow justice, so I’m hoping Chris’ professional photos captured it. She looked so so pretty and I seriously can’t wait to see her pictures!!! We’ve had a few dancers before and their pictures all turned out SO breath taking. So nice meeting you Tiffany and mommy Pamela!!!

Tiffany and Pamela were stuck in traffic so this is what I do when my clients are running late. #selfie of course!!!

A Day’s Work – Edmonton Boudoir Makeup Artist

Love it Love it when my clients take selfies and sends them to me!! And I wasn’t even done her hair yet~ hehehe Cassie looked so HOT and she knew it! =)

image

For most clients, I normally do a medium smokey eye using neutral bronzey colors with a lighter lip. Unless they specifically ask for a certain look/colors. Cassie asked for a ‘dark but not too dark silvery-gray smokey eye with a porn star bright pink lip color’ LOVE IT. It was fun to do something a little different today and it turned out fabulous! Cassie loved it. Her friend, Lisa, who was also there loved it. I loved it. We all loved it! hahaha
This one is from my camera. Work it babe!! It was so much fun chatting and laughing with you!!!

image

My 2nd client today asked for the total opposite look. She wanted very natural, no false lashes, no black eyeliner on the bottom waterline with a very light, neutral lip. She also showed me a picture of Scarlett Johansson’s hair that she loved so I replicated by curling her hair with a smaller clipless rod. It turned out so beautiful! Such a natural beauty!

image

And of course, I had to selfie my outfit of the day!! My day is not complete without a #selfie!! Yes!~ sunglasses and shoes inside! #sofierce lol 😀 Happy weekend everyone!!! It’s finally spring here!!!

Photo Dump! – Edmonton Boudoir Makeup Artist

Whoa I’m so behind in posting pictures of my work on here.  Some of these photos go way back before the new year too.  Oops~!  Better late than never though right!?  🙂

This month has been quite busy with boudoir styling.  I love love love doing boudoir makeup & hair.  More so than anything else.  (wedding makeup comes a close second.)  With boudoir photo styling, I get to do my favorite smokey-eye all the time.  LOL  What can I say, I love my smokey eye + false lashes!  Using makeup to make a woman look and feel sexy and sensual is what I’m here to do.  And to have it all captured with photos is just an added bonus.  Having boudoir photos done is an unforgettable experience, especially 25+ years from now they’ll be proof that ‘hey check out how HOT I was!!!’  🙂

Before & After – Edmonton Boudoir Makeup & Hair Styling

Another before & after of my beautiful client!

Hair & Makeup by me.

I filled in her brows just a bit to add shape and to frame her eyes better.  She opted for no false lashes; I did a light smokey eye with lots of eyeliner to make her eyes pop.  Minimal blush because her cheeks are already naturally rosey.  Fresh faced and oh so pretty!

Holly – Edmonton Boudoir Styling/Makeup & Hair

*Update
Chris sent me a before pic of Holly yay!

image

I always have good conversations with my clients.  I love getting to know them and hearing about their lives, experiences, travels, etc.  Even if it’s only within that hour to hour and a half that we have together.  Most of the time we get along so well that I take longer than usual to do my job.  Oops!  We can’t help it!  Lots of laughter to go around.  I love positive, open people who have that happy aura around them.  Good people with good vibes =)  When my personality and theirs just mesh so well that our conversations about anything n everything is so always too much fun!
image

Holly today was one of them.  I had a blast doing her hair and makeup.  We totally forgot to take a ‘before’ pic but that’s ok, she’s a stunner this Holly girl!  🙂

Hair & Makeup by me.

And of course, some #selfies while I was waiting for Holly to arrive! lol  It was a snowy snowy day today, gotta keep warm!  #canadianeh

My Boudoir Photo Shoot – Edmonton Boudoir Photo Shoot Makeup

Of course I had to take some #selfies from my boudoir photo shoot!  lol

I cannot wait to see the pictures when they’re done!

I had soooo much fun doing this.  Seriously, EVERY WOMAN SHOULD DO A BOUDOIR SHOOT.  It felt so empowering for some reason.  I was a confident woman going into this but after the photo shoot I felt a whole new level of confidence and self love.  Us women are so harsh and overly critical of ourselves.  It’s a sad reality.  We all need to love ourselves just a little more and be comfortable and confident in our bodies.  We only have one life and one us, why not love who we are!   Life is too beautiful and too short to be spent feeling negative and hating ourselves.  No matter what shape or size, loving yourself and being confident and positive automatically exudes sexiness!!  #loveyourself
